JAMES WADE 10 -1 Paul Nicholson

James Wade moved into the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam with a comfortable victory over Paul Nicholson on Thursday evening.

‘The Machine’ dropped just one leg as he grabbed his fourth win of the week, following a perfect record in the group stage, sealing the second round success with a stunning 125 checkout.

Wade won the first two legs on double ten after opening the match with a maximum and he pinned double five to move three ahead.

Nicholson produced a 12-darter to pull a leg back but the 2010 finalist made all the running from then.

Seven-time major winner Wade landed double two before an 81 finish gave him a commanding 5-1 lead.

He then produced a fabulous checkout of 150 with his opponent waiting on 24 and he followed it up by taking out 78 to move further ahead.

‘The Machine’ went with in a leg of victory by rattling off two more and he sealed his last eight spot in sensational style, completing a 125 combination with bullseye, 25, bullseye.

Wade will face Phil Taylor on Saturday.
